Welcome to fourth grade at Marblehead Community Charter Public School. The fourth grade teachers are excited to meet our new students and their family members. We have a great year of learning planned with projects that involve teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. Sure, summer is great, but going back to school is COOL!

Dear parents and students: The summer assignment for fourth graders is to read the book, Fish in a Tree. There are copies available at Charter. Additionally, local libraries have copies of the book and CDs for those of you who would prefer to listen to it.
Congratulations to the talented fourth graders for their dynamic performances in our Greek plays. Well done all! Enjoy.
It was a great trimester at Charter. Students completed collaborative projects and independent research in preparation for our third Exhibition of the 2017/2018 school year. Student work included:
- Balsa-wood bridges which incorporated physics, engineering, mathematics, design, and architecture.
- A Greek Drama (filmed in the classroom & premiered at Exhibition)
- Trading Cards featuring Greek gods and goddesses
- Ancient Rome Webquest
Fourth graders have been busy researching Ancient Greece. They love reading Greek Myths and studying the gods. Our young thespians are in the initial stages of putting together our production of Readers Theater scripts based on favorite Greek myths.
Students began researching bridge designs and the history of bridge building. This collaborative project involves geometry, engineering, mathematics, and architecture. The most important responsibility is teamwork! Each team member belongs to a group and fills a defined role. Completed bridges will be displayed at our third Exhibition on Monday, June 18th at 6:00 p.m.
Thursday night, March 22nd, was a night to remember as our fourth grade students presented their projects to the greater MCCPS community. Public speaking is a strength of Charter students. The teaching team was incredibly pleased with the passion, depth of knowledge, and enthusiasm displayed by our fourth grade students. We’re crazy about numbers, landforms, rocks & minerals, ancient civilizations, poetry, narrative writing, music, and art.
