Eco-Art and Terracycle

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
Here at MCCPS, we are all working together to clean up our planet!  We would like to share with you our current attempts to be resourceful and eco-friendly. Recently, our school has started a compost pile from our extra food scraps.  In addition, many students donate regularly to Terracycle, a company that “upcycles” trash into products, such as pencil cases and school bags.  We are doing very well with the Terracycle Fundraiser and we would like to expand the opportunities for our community to partake in this project. If your family eats, drinks, or uses any products than can be made into a Terracycle product, please bring it to our school. It would help us a great deal! Spread the word and feel good about helping the Earth we live on!

Sincerely,
Grace, Anya, & Madison
7th grade students

MCCPS has sent it's first shipment to Terracycle's Drink Pouch Brigade!  We are still collecting Honest Kids, Capri-Sun, Scott wrappers, Kashi wrappers, Bear Naked containers, and Aveeno containers.  We earn $.02 for each piece of trash!

**New! We also were just invited to join the Cookie Wrapper Brigarde and the Chip Bag Brigade.

Eco-Art enjoyed a wonderful field trip to the Peabody Essex Museum.  Check out the global Trash Menagerie to help us with ideas for next term.  Here's the link to some really cool global Eco-art movements:

Eco-Art will begin new projects after the New Year!  We are now collecting old buttons, plastic lids of all shapes and sizes, and old makeup for our upcoming art endeavors.
