Ettiquete & Espionage

Can you imagine being an embarrassment to the family name? Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carrier is an amazingly, hilarious book about a 14 year old girl named Sophronia who is just that type of person. Her mother is not proud at all of what she has created. Sophronia’s awkward curtsy is what’s sending her to Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality. There she will learn how to curtsy, sit at a table, dress, dance, and throw a knife at the same exact time. Yes, throwing knives is one of the expectations at this finishing school. Sophronias mom has no idea what she has gotten her into. Even though you are taught how to throw knives, you learn how to do it in the most proper way ever. Sophronia and her friends are in for an amazing and astonishing year. So, Welcome To Finishing School! Sophronia nervously prepares to go to the school within an hour of receiving the news.

If you loved the Harry Potter series, you will love this first fabulous book of the three book series. The reason you would love this is because there is something that is always going on with that school no matter who it is or what part of the school it is. The story starts of with an extremely hilarious situation that makes Sophronias mom decide to send her off to the Finishing School. Right when she arrived to the school Sophronia’s dress gets caught in the dumbwaiter when a bowl of truffle had fallen on the furniture, and then, “The bowl landed, in glorious perfection, atop the head of Mrs. Barnaclegoose, who was not the kind of woman to appreciate the finer points of being crowned by a trifle.” Luckily Sophronia has her best friend Vieve, to help her through those hard and embarrassing situations. That is how Sophronia has gotten to go to the Finishing School of Madam Geraldine. This is a book that I recommend putting your time into. This book is an amzing quick read. So what mission will  Sophronia and Vieve going on next. This is on my must read list for my taste of books.
