Exciting STE(A)M Week Project — Meet “Mr. Big Tree-Oh”!

Posted Date: 10/15/25 (2:14 PM)

Hello Families!
Ms. Gabby here — I wanted to share something super exciting that your students have been preparing for!

Next week is STE(A)M Week across Massachusetts — a statewide celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math education. Schools all over the state take part in hands-on projects that encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.

To celebrate, our school will be planting a tree right here on campus!
Students in Grade 4 voted on a name for our new tree — “Mr. Big Tree-Oh” — a playful nod to our school’s 30th birthday being this year! They’ve also been using strong online resources to research why trees are important to our planet and to us. Grade 5 students are diving into details about our specific tree species — the beautiful Dogwood, generously donated by the Marblehead Garden Center. Meanwhile, Grades 6 and 7 have been using credible, scientific sources to create field guides for community members who want to learn more about our tree and its environmental impact.

It’s been so inspiring to see our students learning, collaborating, and preparing to make a lasting mark on our school grounds. The official tree planting will take place next week during STE(A)M Week, and we can’t wait to watch “Mr. Big Tree-Oh” grow right alongside our students!

Warmly,
Ms. Gabby
