Weekly Happenings at MCCPS

A message from the Head of School

October 17, 2025
Dear MCCPS Community,

Mid-trimester progress reports will be sent electronically via ParentSquare on Monday at the end of the school day. These reports provide a numeric snapshot of how your child is performing at this point in the trimester. We encourage you to use this as an opportunity to talk with your child about their progress. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Next week is an exciting one in the Commonwealth—it's Massachusetts STEAM Week! STEAM Week in Massachusetts is a celebration of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math! Our very own Student Seminar teacher, Gabby Larivieri, has planned a week of engaging activities, including an 8th-grade student presentation, a talk from Sustainable Marblehead, and the planting of a legacy tree in honor of our 30th anniversary, generously donated by Marblehead Gardens. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore, create, and see how STEAM connects to the world around them!

Next week also brings several community events:
  • 10/24 Haunted Happenings – Friday, 6–8 PM. MCCPS students can bring a non-charter friend and purchase a ticket.
  • 10/25 Walk for My Brother’s Table – Saturday, 10 AM at Devereux Beach with me, Chef Danette, and Chef Hope.
  • 10/25 & 10/26 Electronics Drive – Bring your unwanted electronics to Charter! A small fee applies, and proceeds benefit our school.

Tomorrow (10/18) from 1–4 PM at Stramski’s Way the Student Council will proudly display the MCCPS scarecrow, designed by our Kindness Collective. Finally, congratulations to the MCCPS Soccer Team on an undefeated season and winning our division! On to the playoffs!

Thank you for your continued support and for being such an active part of our vibrant MCCPS community.

Warmly,

Stephanie Brant LICSW

New Staff Spotlight

5th grade
We’re thrilled to highlight Lillien Kelley, who joined our Charter community last year!

Originally from Marblehead and later a resident of Salem, Lillien attended Salem Public Schools, where a love for learning and a passion for education first took root. Graduating from an accelerated 4+1 program to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education, her time at Salem State helped shape a teaching philosophy centered on inclusion, engagement, and fostering meaningful connections with students.

Outside the classroom, Lillien enjoys creative activities such as crocheting, painting, reading, journaling, and ballet.

One of the highlights of her time at Charter has been building strong relationships with students and cultivating a classroom environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to take risks and celebrate each other’s successes. Watching students grow academically, socially, and emotionally continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of her career.

We are so fortunate to have Lillien as part of our Charter family!
